October 2009 Practice Changes, Closings, and Cancellations

Senior Gold will practice from 7 – 10:00 AM
Senior Blue Plus will practice from 7 - 9 AM
Senior Blue practice is CANCELLED due to the GPAC Meet

Summer Weather Notes:
While we do not have to contend with snow and ice, summer brings its own weather challenges in the form of thunderstorms. Seahawks coaches follow the standard rules for summer swimming at Hidden Hollow (swimmers are brought out of the pool at the first sound of thunder, and remain out until a safe interval has passed); the past two weeks notwithstanding, morning thunderstorms are, thankfully, rare, and when they occur, usually brief. Further, thunderstorms are spotty; a t-storm that hits King of Prussia may bypass Media entirely. Thus, morning practice is rarely cancelled. Practice IS held in the rain, as long as there is no thunder/lightening; after all, the swimmers are already wet!
Fall thru Spring Weather Notes:
Weather cancellations are a tricky thing for Suburban. Our families come from all over the PA suburbs (and into Delaware), and road conditions vary widely across the region; further, they often can (and do) change rapidly. It can also take a while for the news to reach everyone, if we do decide to cancel. With that in mind – our general practice has been to cancel practices rarely, BUT to advise everyone to exercise caution and good judgment in making your decisions as to whether it is safe to travel. In the event that we do need to cancel practices, we will make every effort to send out an email and post a notice on the website.
